Getting your data from online services is the most cumbersome task these days. There are many software which provide services to backup online data but at times they are also not helpful. Whereas in case of Google it is fairly easy. All thanks to Data Liberation Front project which Google had been working to get your data out of its various projects easily. The project resulted into Google Takeout.
Use Google Takeout To Backup Online Data
Google Takeout is a fair progress in getting almost all of the data out of all possible Google products. Let’s discuss in detail what Google Takeout is all about and what its shortcomings are.
Using Google Takeout
Google Takeout is valuable for only Google account holders. To use Google Takeout just go its website and login using your Google ID.
Google Takeout supports following product services at the moment:
- +1 (content which were rated by you)
- Buzz (all those mini conversations)
- Circles (A backup of Google+ friends)
- Contacts
- Knol
- Picasa Web albums
- Google Profile
- Stream (Posts made to Google+)
- Voice

Just below the list mentioned above there will be a button to Create Archive. Google Takeout archives al your online data associated with the list mentioned above into a zip file and then downloads it.
By default Google Takeout would create archive for all listed Google products. There may be chance that you don’t require all the data. In such case just click on Choose Services tab and then select the service for which you would like take backup.

Takeout will give an estimate of the archive size. Once you have selected the service click on Create Archive which will then create a downloadable zip file.
