Restoring bookmarks is somewhat different from the usual backup system. In this method if anyhow your bookmarks get corrupted or accidently get deleted then you can restore them. These days the web browsers come with a synchronization and backup option which can be for restoring data. But to access these features they are needed to be activated beforehand.

Firefox users have an advantage as they can use the browser’s in-built restore tool to get their bookmarks restored. This tool is already activated in Firefox. Now follow the process given below to restore bookmarks in Firefox.

  • Open Firefox and then press Ctrl + Shift + B to access bookmarks manager.
  • Once the bookmarks manager is open, click on Import and Backup option present at the top. Click to display its menu options.

  • Take the cursor on Restore option. Firefox by default takes backup of bookmarks everyday which will be displayed by date when you move the cursor on Restore option.

  • Click on a specific date as per your choice. Firefox will overwrite the current bookmarks with the backup of the selected date.

Note: Bookmarks added after that date or in meantime will not be available after restoration.

To prevent such situation one can also take backup by exporting the bookmarks to HTML. Alternatively one can configure the synchronization option which will automatically sync all the bookmarks with a cloud server.One can also take backup of bookmarks in form of JSON files.
